Obleevo and Google Drive, side by side
Google Drive keeps a file on Google’s servers until you delete it, in 15 GB of free storage shared with Gmail and Google Photos. Obleevo keeps it nowhere: it goes from your browser to the other person’s, end to end encrypted, while you are both in the room. It is free, with no account and no ads.
1. Side by side
Free plans. Every figure about Google Drive comes from its own public pages, read on 16 October 2026, and nothing was guessed.
| Obleevo | Google Drive | |
|---|---|---|
| Size limit | up to 1 TB in Chrome and Edge on a computer · in other browsers and on phones, as much space as the browser gives the site (512 MB in older browsers that cannot write to their own storage) | 15 GB of storage in all, shared with Gmail and Google Photos |
| Kept on a server | never | yes, until you delete it |
| Available for | while the room is open | until you delete it or stop sharing |
| Account or email | none | Google Account required to share · none to open a file shared with “anyone with the link” |
| End to end encrypted | yes | not claimed for a personal account |
| Post-quantum encryption | yes | not claimed |
| Chat, voice, screen sharing and a shared board, live | all four, in the same room | none in Drive itself |
| Ads on the free plan | none | not stated |
| Files checked before you open them | in your browser, before you accept — the file never passes through us | on their servers, up to 100 MB; some file types cannot be scanned |
Nothing is downloaded until you press Accept.
2. When Google Drive is the better choice
Obleevo needs both people online at the same time, and it keeps nothing once the room is closed. Google Drive keeps a file stored and organised in folders for as long as you want, and a shared link keeps working while you are offline. When that is what you need, Google Drive is the better choice.
3. How to switch
- Open obleevo.com.
- Create a room.
- Send the invite link. The other person accepts each file.
